Resource Development Director

The mission of Transplanting Traditions is to uplift food sovereignty in the refugee community through access to land, education and entrepreneurial opportunities. The farm provides a cultural community space for refugee adults and youth to come together, recreate home, build healthy communities, and continue agricultural traditions in the Piedmont of N.C. Transplanting Traditions is looking for a creative, organized and driven individual to direct communications and fundraising efforts and donor cultivation initiatives to increase the impact, diversity and sustainability of organizational funding long-term.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and monitor organizational fund development and communications plans, including strategic goals and objectives, and support staff in evaluating and revising strategies on an annual basis
  • Improve and maintain donor management systems
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit new and current major donors and partners 
  • Deepen relationships with supporters to increase their annual contributions
  • Ensure successful donor acknowledgement and relations
  • Develop and implement sustainable and financially lucrative fundraising events and campaigns 
  • Conduct and compile research for potential donors and partners
  • Oversee and contribute to the preparation, submission, and management of grant proposals to foundations and other funding sources  
  • Collaborate with ED to measure impact and success of programming through regular monitoring and evaluation
  • Prepare and collect necessary information to submit donor and grant reports
  • Manage and supervise fundraising staff and volunteers, including grant writers, AmeriCorps VISTA members and fundraising and communications volunteers
  • Oversee and manage organizational and donor communication strategies and tools such as social media pages, websites, newsletters, postcards, promotional materials, etc.
  • Maintain the organization’s social media content calendar, working with staff to develop and publish content on a regular basis
  • Support staff in meeting annual fundraising goals and communications goals in the strategic plan
 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in event planning, donor cultivation, grant writing and other innovative fundraising efforts
  • 2+ years experience in nonprofit communications, including newsletter writing (experience with Mailchimp or similar platform preferred), social media content development (specifically Instagram and Facebook), and website management and development
  • 5+ years experience of managing a team of staff and volunteers
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and donor management systems 
  • Experience building relationships with key stakeholders, funders and partners
  • Passion for and understanding of food justice, sustainable agriculture and refugee/immigrant issues (professional experience in these areas ideal)
  • Dedication to working as a member of and in partnership with diverse communities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills and strong emotional intelligence
  • High proficiency in Google Drive, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management
  • Commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation
 

Desired start date: October 2022 Time commitment: 40 hours a week (full time)

Location: Chapel Hill, NC

Salary and benefits: $50,000-$55,000 based on experience, full health insurance coverage and paid time off
